A Disciple Who Loves

God’s love is practical. It meets us where we are. It spares no expense to win us.

God’s love is real.

“We love Him because He first loved us” – 1 John 4:19.

I love God.

I praise God and thank God for His grace and love to me and you! Do you love God? I hope that you do; if you don’t, you can. Once you believe in God’s love for you that has been demonstrated through Christ in the Gospel, you will experience His work of love in your heart. He will fill you with love for Him. It’s all His work within us, and it is glorious, and it is free, and He wants to do it for all who are His! As a believer in Christ, you can believe God to do this within you. God wants you to trust Him to fill you with His love – Romans 5:5.

“Love covers a multitude of sins” – 1 Peter 4:8.

I rejoice because of God’s love, for all my sins are forgiven to glory of God! If you have repented of your sins and believe in the Gospel, then you, too, have your sins covered, buried, removed, destroyed, pulverized, and condemned by the God who is love, Himself. The God of the Bible is the great God and Savior Jesus Christ. I am so excited to know Him; to the praise of the glory of His grace by which He has made us accepted in the Lord Jesus Christ – His beloved Son.

As we have been forgiven of every evil deed we have committed, so may we forgive all those with whom we are bitter, with whom we hold a grudge, and with whom we cannot forget. When our hearts are filled with God’s love, we finally have peace, power, and boldness to love others with the love of God that resides within us. Love covers a multitude of sins.

Ask Jesus to help you forgive your spouse, your father, mother, brother, sister, enemy, boss, co-worker, etc. Ask God to make your heart a conduit by which God can extend His love to others, draw people to Himself through your sacrifice, and glorify His holy Name.

Love covers a multitude of sin – not simply one or two but a multitude – 490 or more!

“Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins” – Proverbs 10:12.

Hatred is poison. Whether slow or fast, the poison spreads until the one who hates dies inside. Like Cain who murdered Abel, the one who hates cannot please God.

However, God’s love covers a multitude of sins – this covering is unrestricted. No matter what you have done, the God of the Bible forgives and commands His disciples to preach repentance and forgiveness of sins in His name – Luke 24:46-48.

By God’s grace and wonderful work in our hearts and minds, we can become people who help people, serve people, and love people. Through our loving service, we can influence people to seek God and His kingdom first. By this we can glorify God. I want to glorify God!

“He who covers a transgression seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates friends” – Proverbs 17:9.

When we learn to cover transgressions, by seeking to forgive others of their offenses toward us, we have learned what it means to be loving and are experiencing the filling of God’s love in our hearts as He promised – Romans 5:5.

God blesses the one who seeks to love. God’s blessing are far greater and exceed further in the joy of life through the power of the Holy Spirit than any grudge, bitterness, or unforgiveness can compare.

We can repeat a matter when we remind our loved ones of their past faults and failures every time they mess up or when we become frustrated with them over some issue.

Bringing up the repentant past is a great error on our part. Brining up mistakes, errors, faults, and sins that have clearly been repented of is not loving. Moreover, bringing them up every time some one fails is a sure sign of our own bitterness and immaturity.

May we be disciples of Christ and love in practice – in tangible ways – so those in our sphere will be drawn to the true God who is loving them through us.
